We will pick you up at the airport. Depending on your flight arrival, you will have some time to explore Amman at your own pace or we can organize a day tour if time allows.
Enjoy beautiful views over the Dead Sea on your way, get ready for a self-guided hike on the Siq Trail: 2-3 hours of climbing, splashing, hiking, sliding, and jumping through a stunning gorge! Follow the course of the river between towering sandstone cliffs to the base of a large waterfall. Depending on seasonal rainfall levels, there might even be pools deep enough to swim.
Explore Little Petra known as Siq al-Barid (the Cold Canyon). It is believed to be a ‘suburb’ of Petra, that was probably meant to house traders traveling along the Silk Road.
The camp will be selected based on your budget preference as there are 5 stars bubble-style camps and the traditional Bedouin-style camps.
All stays include delicious local dinner and breakfast.
A great way to end your night under the stars.
Amidst high sandstone mountains, a good track leads down Wadi Ghurab. The way then follows a Nabataean route out of the valley, and skirts around the final mountain on a natural rock terrace which has been ‘improved’ for the safety of walkers. Even so, it narrows slightly before reaching a hidden plateau high above the impressive chasm of Wadi Siyyagh. Just beyond, ‘the Monastery’ suddenly comes into view.
16 KM/ 8 – 10 Hours (Including Sightseeing time)
Head to Wadi Rum to rest at your Bedouin camp where your traditional cooked meal awaits you.
Get ready to summit Jordan’s highest peak – Jabal Umm ad-Dami. After breakfast and a long jeep ride through the stunning desert landscape (approx. 1hr), we’ll reach the foot of the mountain. The hiking path is very steep and a little strenuous, but overall it’s a moderate hike: it will only take you about 2-3 hours to get to the top and back down again (depending on your level of fitness of course).
Once you reach the peak you will see – the stunning desert views were absolutely worth every effort! Standing at an altitude of 1854m above sea level, you gain a whole new perspective of the breathtaking landscape surrounding you. To the South, you can see across a wide mountain panorama far into Saudi Arabia, to the North you can spot Rum Village and the famous Seven Pillars of Wisdom at the horizon.
After the hike, we’ll enjoy a delicious lunch cooked in the middle of the desert wilderness on fire, and then return to the camp to relax and recover, and spend another night in Wadi Rum, enjoying the traditional Bedouin hospitality and a breathtaking night sky.
You will participate in preparation for the traditional bedouin dinner “Zarb”.
It is a traditional Bedouin underground oven used by nomadic herding peoples in the Arabian Peninsula. Much like a barbeque, the methods start by digging a hole in the soft sand. Then cook down wood to coals, place the food over the coal and cover the hole with sand.
The bedouin chef will be telling you about the practices and techniques used to make the best Zarb.
After an early breakfast, we’ll drive back up North, to the shores of the Dead Sea. Did you know that this also is the lowest point on earth?! Today, we will take time to float in the salty waters, try out the ‘magical’ Dead Sea mud, relax by the pool, or pamper ourselves to some spa treatments – the perfect way to end the trip.
